About The Brook Community Church

A Refreshing Church

The Brook Community Church is a church plant located in the Twin Cities (St. Paul/Minneapolis) area. In 2016, God placed it on the heart of a couple to plant a church in the Twin Cities area. After seeking God through prayer and wise counsel, with the help of family, friends, and other churches, they moved to the Twin Cities to begin the work of planting The Brook Community Church.

Since the beginning it has been our prayer that The Brook would be a replication of the Acts 2 church; rooted in scripture, committed to bold proclamation of the Gospel, a place of authentic community, participators in radical generosity, and outwardly expressive in our gratitude to God.

Our Beliefs

Scripture

We Believe the Bible consists of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired word of God, and is truthful in all that it affirms. It is the final authority for Christian faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21;)

Work of Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is God’s eternal Son, became fully man without ceasing to be fully God; in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died as an atoning sacrifice for the sins of all mankind, rose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven to prepare a place for believers to intercede on their behalf. (Matthew 1:18-23, Luke 1:35, Acts 1:9-11 Romans 3:24, 1st Corinthians 15:1-8, Hebrews 7:25)

God Head

We believe there is one true God who eternally exists as three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Distinct in relationship, the three persons of the Trinity are fully God and are one in essence and purpose. God has revealed Himself to be the infinite personal Creator, who is sovereign over all things. (Genesis 1:26, Deuteronomy 6:4, Mark 1:9-11, 2nd Corinthians 13:14.)

The Person & Work of the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit persuades us to repent of our sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord. He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, and sealing them unto the day of redemption. He lives in us, teaches us, equips us with spiritual gifts for effective ministry and empowers us to live, grow, and serve in obedience to God. (John 16:8-11, Acts 1:8, 1st Corinthians 12:4-9, Romans 8:9)

Condition of Man

We believed mankind was originally created in God’s image but being tempted by Satan, chose to sin and rebel against God. Through Adam’s sin, the race fell. As a result of this fallen condition, God’s image has been marred and all men and women are born separated from God and in need of salvation.  Through personal repentance and faith in Jesus Christ’s finished work on the cross alone, we are forgiven our sins, reborn by the Holy Spirit and restored into fellowship with God. (Genesis 1:26-7; 3:9-13, Romans 3:22-23, Romans 5:8-12 Ephesians 2:1-3,12)

Eternal Security and Assurance of Believers

We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever. We believe that this is the privilege of believers in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word; which clearly forbids the use of Christian liberties an occasion to live by the flesh. (John 6:37; 10:27-30; Romans 8:1; 38-39)

The Church

We believe the Church is the living Body of Christ on earth and comprised of all true believers in Jesus Christ. He is the head and source of the Church’s life, which exist to glorify God. The Church fulfills its mission by celebrating the glory and goodness of God, cultivating personal growth in Christ, caring about one another in biblical community and communicating the gospel in word and action to the world. We believe in the autonomy of the local churches, free of any external authority and control. We recognize believer’s baptism and the Lord’s supper as scriptural means of testimony for the church.  (Matthew 16:15-19, Ephesians 4:14-16, Acts 2:41-47, 1st Corinthians 11:23-26)

Christ Returns

We Believe Jesus Christ will physically return to earth to establish his eternal kingdom. He will judge the world, reward the saints and rule for eternity. This is the blessed hope of the Church and its encouragement for perseverance in faith and ministry. Those who have been reborn in Christ will live with Him forever. (John 14:1-3, Matthew 24:29-31, Revelation 19:11-21)
